Cat Muscles - external oblique

The probe is in the general area of the external oblique muscle fibers (cottony-white stuff).

Description of external oblique - is a sheet of muscle located directly on either side of to the rectus abdominis band of muscle. The external oblique sheet of muscle is superficial to and directly covers the internal oblique.

  1. Is the head on the north or south side? Where is the external intercostals?

  2. The head is south, or more precisely, southeast.

For a better, "zoomed out" view of the external and internal oblique muscles (respectively), please visit my alternate, updated cat dissection blog:

For the external intercostals (muscles between adjacent ribs), you could take a look at this website's clearly labeled pictures (see "Deep Muscles of the Chest and Abdomen" slide): http://www.docstoc.com/docs/147454057/Cat-Muscles-Chest_-Neck-and-Arm

Thank you for your comment. Luck with your studies! :-)
